COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Purpose: to continue our association and assistance to local groups, agencies and programs who serve the Taos immigrant community.
This includes Sin Fronteras NM/ Jose & Vannesa Gonzalez, Taos United, Las Cumbres Community Services, CAV, schools, churches/ faith groups, elected officials, and ESL programs.
Furthermore, we are seeking out and developing new resources and partnerships within the local community.
EDUCATION Committee
TIA will work towards helping the Taos community support the undocumented families and workers to know their rights. Projects will be created that will aid and facilitate further needs.
FUNDRAISING, EVENTS
Help TIA design and stage events for fundraising purposes. Be able to ask for donations; for goods, for money. Help plan events, set-up, break down and "work" events as needed. Be well organized, timely and efficient. May include weekends & evenings. Frequency is sporadic.
LITTLE PANTRY (like the Little Library's) Help implement the Little Pantry Program in Taos. This involves research, phone calls, web-searches, ability to report findings, work with timelines. Help find resources for ongoing food donations, people to construct and erect the Pantries and more people to maintain the pantries.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS, PRESS RELEASES
Have an excellent command of the English language (Spanish, too?), to be able to write PSA's and PR's that get noticed. Having contacts at the radio stations and newspapers is a bonus.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT committee of Taos Immigrant Allies will develop outreach projects that can be used for information, education, fundraising, announcements and more.
THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE of Taos Immigrant Allies will track legislation at state, local and federal levels that impact immigration. When legislation (and executive orders) are being considered, we need to make our voices heard. This committee involves postcard and telephone call campaigns; letters to the editor, “My Turn” columns. We would like to expand our reach to make our fellow citizens aware of what's happening regarding immigration.
